Splitting a PDF is useful when one file holds several documents: a scanned stack of invoices, a long report whose chapters go to different people, or a contract where only some pages need a signature. PDF4U cuts the file exactly where you want and gives you each part as its own PDF.
Choose Click between pages and click the scissors between two thumbnails wherever a new file should start – the fastest way to cut a scanned stack into separate documents. Or choose Every N pages to cut the document into equal parts, Custom ranges to type ranges like 1-3, 4-10, 11-, or Odd and even pages to get the front and back sides of a double-sided scan as two files. The page previews show which pages end up in which file before you split.
Everything happens in your browser. The PDF is not uploaded, so the tool works with confidential documents and large files, and the pages keep their original quality.
How to split a PDF

Frequently asked questions
How do I split a PDF into single pages?
Choose “Every N pages” and keep the number at 1. Each page becomes its own PDF, and you can download them all together as a ZIP file.
How do I choose exactly where to split?
Click the scissors between two page thumbnails: a new file starts after that page. Click again to undo it. You can also type ranges separated by commas – 1-3 means pages 1 to 3, 5 is a single page and 8- means page 8 to the end, so 1-3, 4-6, 7- creates three files.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. PDF4U splits your PDF inside your own browser, so the file never leaves your device and nobody else can see it. See our privacy policy for details.
Is there a page or file size limit?
There is no fixed limit. Splitting works with long documents and large files; the only limit is your device's memory. On phones, files of several hundred megabytes may be slow.
Will the split files lose quality?
No. Pages are copied as they are – text, images, links and form fields on the page stay unchanged. Bookmarks from the original file are not copied into the parts.
Can I split a password-protected PDF?
Remove the password first with Unlock PDF (you need to know it), then split the unlocked file.
Can I separate odd and even pages?
Yes. Choose “Odd and even pages” to get two files: one with pages 1, 3, 5… and one with pages 2, 4, 6… – handy for double-sided scans. To keep only some pages in one file, use Extract PDF pages instead.
