About PDF4U

PDF4U is a set of free online PDF tools. You can merge, split, compress, convert, rotate, number, watermark, sign and protect PDF files without installing anything and without creating an account.

Your files stay on your device

Most online PDF services upload your documents to their servers. PDF4U works differently: every tool runs inside your web browser and uses your own device to do the work. Your files are never sent to us or to anyone else, so contracts, bank statements, ID scans and medical records stay private.

You can check this yourself: open your browser’s developer tools, switch to the Network tab and use any tool. You will see the page load its own program files, but you won’t see your document being sent anywhere. Our pages also use a strict security policy that blocks them from connecting to other websites.

Free, with no limits

There is no sign-up, no daily limit and no watermark. How large a file you can process depends only on your device’s memory; a computer handles files of several hundred megabytes. To keep PDF4U free, we plan to show ads next to the tools in the future – never inside the area where you add your files.

What the tools can and can’t do

All tools run in the browser today. That means compression is basic – it works best on scans and photos – and converting Word, Excel or PowerPoint files is not available yet. We would rather say that clearly than promise results we can’t deliver.
