How to extract pages from a PDF and save them as a new file

Last updated: 1 November 2026

To extract pages from a PDF, open Extract PDF pages, click the pages you want or type ranges like 2, 5-7, then click “Extract pages” to download exactly those pages as a new PDF. Your original file stays unchanged.

This guide is for anyone who needs only part of a document: the signed page of a contract, one chapter of a manual or e-book, or the statement and invoice pages your accountant asked for. It also explains when Split PDF or Remove PDF pages is the better choice.

The tool is free, needs no account and runs in your browser on your own device, so your PDF is not uploaded.

Open Extract PDF pages

Step by step

  1. Open the tool. Go to Extract PDF pages in a current browser on your computer, Android phone or iPhone. There is nothing to install.
  2. Select your PDF. Click “Select PDF file” or drop a PDF onto the page. A preview of every page appears.
  3. Choose the pages. Click the pages you want to keep, or type page numbers and ranges such as 1-3, 7 in the “Pages” field. Click “Odd pages” or “Even pages” to select every other page at once.
  4. Check your selection. The previews update as you click or type, so you can confirm the right pages are selected. Click “Clear” to start over or “Select all” to begin from the full document.
  5. Pick the output. Choose “One PDF” to combine the selected pages into a single file, or “One PDF per page” to get each page as its own file.
  6. Extract and download. Click “Extract pages”, then download your new PDF. With separate files, download them one by one or all together as a ZIP.

Examples: how to type the pages you need

The “Pages” field accepts single pages and ranges separated by commas. These entries cover the most common cases:

  • 4: only page 4, for example the signed page of a contract.
  • 12-31: pages 12 to 31, for example one chapter of a long manual for a colleague.
  • 2, 5-7: page 2 plus pages 5, 6 and 7, such as the invoice pages of a longer document.
  • 20-: page 20 to the last page, which is useful when you don't know the exact page count.
  • 1-10, 15, 20-: several ranges in one entry.

For a few scattered pages, clicking the previews works well. For long documents, typing ranges saves you from scrolling through many thumbnails. Either way, the previews show what you selected before you extract.

Extract, split or delete: which tool to use

All three tools build new PDFs from the pages of your file, but each one fits a different job.

  • Extract PDF pages: you pick the pages to keep and get only those pages. Use it when you need a small part of a document, like the relevant pages of a bank statement for a loan application.
  • Split PDF: cuts the whole document into several files, for example every 5 pages, by custom ranges such as 1-3, 4-10, 11-, by clicking the scissors between pages, or into odd and even pages. Use it when one file holds several documents, such as a scanned stack of invoices.
  • Remove PDF pages: you mark the pages to remove, shown in red, and download the rest as one PDF. Use it when you want to keep most of a document and drop a few pages, like blank backs or a cover sheet.

A simple rule: if you want fewer pages than you leave behind, extract them. If you want to keep most of the pages, delete the ones you don't need. If every page should end up in one of several files, split.

Things to know before you extract

  • The result is always a new file. Your original PDF is not modified, so you can extract different page sets from the same document as often as you like.
  • Bookmarks of the original document are not carried over to the new PDF.
  • Pages are copied without re-compressing, so they look exactly like the original. Text stays searchable and links on the page keep working.
  • Because nothing is uploaded, the work happens on your device. There are no daily limits, but very large files are limited by your device's memory.

Frequently asked questions

Does extracting pages change my original PDF?

No. Extract PDF pages creates a new file with the pages you selected. Your original PDF stays exactly as it was.

Can I save each selected page as a separate PDF?

Yes. Choose “One PDF per page” before you click “Extract pages”. You can then download the files one by one or all together as a ZIP.

How do I select many pages quickly?

Type ranges in the “Pages” field, for example 1-10, 15, 20-, where 20- means page 20 to the last page. You can also click “Odd pages” or “Even pages”. The previews update as you go.

Will the extracted pages lose quality?

No. Pages are copied without re-compressing, so text, images and links look exactly like the original. Only the bookmarks of the original document are not carried over.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. Your browser extracts the pages on your device, and nothing is sent to a server. See the privacy policy for details.

Can I extract pages from a PDF on my phone?

Yes. Open Extract PDF pages in a current browser on Android or iPhone, tap the pages you want or type the page numbers, and download the new file. You don't need an app.
